A traditional Japanese soup, Miso Soup is not only famous in Japan but also around the whole wide world. It is prepared using miso paste which is prepared from fermented soya beans. Various vegetables and ingredients such as tofu, cabbage and chicken are added to this soup. This soup is easy to make and can be prepared for parties as well. Chicken Miso Soup is the perfect comfort food that will keep you warm during the chilly winter season. It is a light and delicious soup which can be prepared in no time. This soup is often served with rice in Japan and you too can pair it with rice or noodles if you like. For this Chicken Miso Soup, we have used some basic veggies, however, you can add more veggies for extra taste and nutrition. The miso paste which is made from fermented soybeans adds a lot of flavour to this soup. Chicken Miso Soup

Ingredients of Chicken Miso Soup

  • 1 1/2 tablespoon miso
  • 4 cloves crushed garlic
  • 1/4 cup sliced shittake mushrooms
  • 1/4 cup shredded cabbage
  • water as required
  • 1 cup sliced,sliced thick chicken boneless
  • 1/2 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • salt as required
  • 4 tablespoon chopped spring onions

How to make Chicken Miso Soup

Step 1 Simmer ingredients togetherIn a pot, add water and boil it. When it boils, add miso paste and mix well. Add sliced chicken, ginger, garlic, shiitake mushrooms, soy sauce and salt in the pot. Give a mix and let it cook for 10-12 minutes.

Step 2 Add cabbageNow, add cabbage to the soup and mix. Cook for another 5 minutes and check whether the chicken is cooked or not and then remove the pot from the flame.

Step 3 Ready to be servedTransfer the soup to bowls, garnish each bowl with 1 tablespoon of chopped spring onions and serve.

Tips
  1. You can add some finely chopped carrots and beans to the soup as well.
  2. Add a dash of black pepper to add some spicy flavours to the soup.
  3. If you don’t have Shitake mushrooms, you can use the usual ones as well.
